Health alert regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus):

We are following guidance from state and local public health officials (and the CDC) regarding this outbreak.  At this time, the Iowa Department of Public Health is not recommending any additional travel screening, but for our healthcare providers to continue the travel history screening that is always done as part of a clinical evaluation.  Student Health is in direct communication with the health officials who are closely monitoring the situation in our community and state, and will implement any recommendations they might have for screening or management of the outbreak.  For more information on this emerging health issue, see information from the Iowa Department of Public Health and the CDC.  

If you have traveled to/from China in the last 14 days and feel sick with fever, cough or difficulty breathing, you should seek medical care right away. Before you go to a healthcare office, call ahead and tell them about your travel and your symptoms.

Influenza Information

The UNI Student Health Clinic has recently seen an increased number of students who have tested positive for the flu. Currently, flu is widespread in the State of Iowa. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that so far this season there have been at least 15 million flu illnesses, 140,000 hospitalizations and 8,200 deaths from flu. The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. Each case of the flu can vary from mild to severe illness.

Appointments

Online Appointment Scheduling

To schedule a medical appointment click on the Patient Portal Icon to the left and login using your Cat ID and passphrase.  Once you are in the patient portal select New Appointment from the dashboard.

If you need to schedule any of the following appointments please contact our office directly at (319)273-2009 option #1 as these can not be schedule online.  Please remember to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time.  You will need to stop at the front desk to start your check-in process.

The UNI Student Health Clinic is open on all days University classes are in session from 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Location

UNI’s Student Health Clinic is located inside the Student Health Center, which is located on the corner of Minnesota Street and W 23rd Street (approximately the 1600 block of 23rd St), on the University of Northern Iowa’s campus in Cedar Falls, Iowa.  The building is next to the Schindler Education Center.

Health Insurance Information Form

You may provide health insurance information to the Student Health Clinic prior to an appointment or if your insurance has changed.  Please complete the Insurance Information Form and return along with a copy of your insurance card (front and back). Students: If you are 18 or older, make sure you sign the form.

This is an exciting time in the life of your son/daughter and it is sometimes more difficult on the parents, often miles away, than on the students.  We realize it is also more challenging when your student is sick.  The Student Health Clinic is a one-stop health care service that is centrally located on campus.  We offer evaluations of sickness or injury and preventative health exams.  Our Student Health Clinic plays an essential role in the health and well-being of UNI students by:

Confidentiality & Privacy

Confidentiality

All medical records are confidential and will be transferred to another facility only by the student's request and signed written authorization to release medical records.  We respect students' right to privacy and will not give any information to anyone, including parents, roommates, friends, or instructors without proper written authorization.

The Student Health Clinic is an AAAHC accredited facility. We participate in a voluntary site survey to measure the quality of our services and performance against nationally recognized standards of The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.
