Advising & Support
A community invested in your progress.
Success in college is about more than completing a course sequence. It means finding the right path, building confidence through experience and knowing where to turn when questions or challenges arise.
Across UNI's health-related programs, students are supported by a collaborative community that understands the many paths to improving lives. Faculty, academic advisors, pre-health specialists and campus partners work across programs, departments and colleges to help students make informed decisions, connect with meaningful opportunities and build a path that reflects their interests and goals.
Built around your goals
In many health-related programs, faculty serve as advisors, bringing firsthand knowledge of the curriculum, profession and opportunities within their field. They help students plan courses, understand program requirements and consider how internships, research, graduate study and career goals fit into the larger picture.
As interests and plans evolve, advisors can also help students explore complementary majors, minors and certificates or connect with expertise in another program.
Specialized pre-health support
Students preparing for medical, dental, pharmacy, physical therapy, veterinary or another health professional program can receive an additional layer of guidance through UNI’s Health Advising Team.
Working alongside faculty and program advisors, the team helps students understand professional-school expectations and connect their academic plans with research, shadowing, volunteer experiences and other preparation for the application process.
