Health Facilities
Where knowledge becomes practice.
The best way to prepare for a career in health is to experience it firsthand. Across health at UNI, students learn in simulation suites, teaching clinics, anatomy labs, human performance centers and community settings that bring classroom concepts to life. These spaces are designed to help students build confidence, develop professional skills and prepare to make a difference from day one of their careers.
Nursing Integrated Classrooms & Simulation Suites

Develop clinical confidence in realistic hospital-style environments featuring patient rooms, trauma and emergency care spaces, labor and delivery, pediatric simulation, a nurses' station, medication administration areas and high-fidelity patient simulators. Students also build a strong foundation in anatomy using the Anatomage Table, a life-sized 3D visualization system that brings the human body to life.
SynDaver Anatomy Lab

UNI was the first university in Iowa to introduce SynDavers — highly realistic synthetic human cadavers — and the first in the world to receive the Generation 3 model. Used in anatomy and physiology courses, SynDavers allow students to explore the human body in remarkable detail, from muscles and bones to nerves and organs, building a strong foundation for future study and clinical practice.
Roy Eblen Speech & Hearing Clinic

Serving hundreds of children and adults each year, the Roy Eblen Speech & Hearing Clinic provides assessment and treatment for speech, language, hearing, cognition and swallowing disorders. Under the supervision of licensed faculty and clinical educators, students gain hands-on experience working directly with clients while developing the clinical skills and confidence needed for careers in speech-language pathology and audiology.
Dementia Simulation House

Step into the daily experience of living with dementia through one of UNI's most distinctive learning environments. Designed as a home rather than a classroom, the Dementia Simulation House uses specialized equipment and immersive activities to help students better understand the sensory and cognitive challenges many individuals face while completing everyday tasks. The experience builds empathy, strengthens communication skills and reinforces person-centered approaches to care for older adults and their families.
Human Performance Center

UNI's Human Performance Center brings together teaching, research and performance testing in one collaborative space. Students gain hands-on experience using specialized equipment to assess movement, strength, endurance and overall health while learning alongside faculty in exercise physiology, biomechanics, athletic training and related fields. From working with athletes to promoting lifelong health and wellness, the center helps students develop the skills to evaluate performance, prevent injury and improve quality of life.
Wellness & Recreation Center

Serving as both a campus recreation hub and a teaching environment, the Wellness & Recreation Center gives students opportunities to apply what they learn in real-world settings. Kinesiology and recreation, tourism and nonprofit leadership students build experience through fitness, recreation and wellness programming, leadership opportunities and community engagement while preparing for careers that promote health, wellness and active communities.
Community & Clinical Learning
Some of UNI's most valuable learning spaces extend beyond campus. Through hospitals, clinics, schools, nonprofit organizations, public health agencies and community partnerships across the Cedar Valley and beyond, students apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings, build professional confidence and make a meaningful difference while serving individuals and communities.
